The Green Lawn Company offers a comprehensive range of specialist treatments for residential garden lawns.
Our treatments are available as an optional extra to help the general appearance of your lawn and keep it in the best condition. We will advise you if any of these treatments are necessary when we undertake a free survey of your lawn.
We also offer a range of specialist treatments for commercial lawns for hotels, restaurants, pubs, schools and public spaces.
We use a Ryan Lawnair IV, which is used to plug cores from your lawn in order to allow air, water and nutrients into the root zone of the lawn, which helps to break down thatch. This treatment can be used any time of year but we recommend once a year in moderate conditions.
A thatch build up under the grass causes a limited root growth into the soil below therefore restricting correct conditions for a better grass growth. Too much thatch build up will also start to lay the foundations for the attraction of moss, lawn pests and lawn disease. We recommend this treatment to maintain healthy growth and root development. Lawns are treated in Spring and Autumn with this procedure. Moss should be treated and killed 14 days prior to this process. We will still seasonally treat your lawn as usual before and after this process to help with a speedy recovery.
Top dressing is recommended to help grass growth and encourage a better root development.
The treatment improves the surface drainage and therefore allows the soil surface to dry out quicker reducing the opportunity for moss to develop.
Grass plants do not live forever, they deteriorate and their rate of reproduction slows down. Mature lawns often have areas of weak thin grass which allows moss and weeds to colonise the lawn. The best defence against weeds and moss is thick healthy grass sward. New seed should be regularly introduced into all lawns to replace the ageing plants. If you want your lawn to stay thick and dense then over seeding at least once every three years is desirable. Over seeding with a variety of different seed species can be carried out in the late winter or early spring and autumn particularly after you have scarified, aerated or top dressed your lawn.
Total Weed Control
Our speciliast residential treatments include the complete destruction of all weeds in your driveways and paths.
Using specialist chemicals, not the usual household products available in DIY stores, we can ensure your driveway and paths are weed free.
Brown patches in the lawn can be caused by a fungus which makes the soil hydrophobic. Wetting agents can be used in periods of drought to reduce the effects dry patch can have on your lawn.
Wetting agents are applied to the lawn and encourage the maximum usage and absorption of moisture by the soil and help treat areas of grass affected by dry patch.
There are numerous diseases that can affect the condition of grass and most are spread by spores or poor soil conditions. Some of the most common ones include:
* Dollar spot * Fusarium patch * Red thread * Dry patch * Rust
Lawn Pest Control
We use specialist insecticides under strict control for a variety of lawn pests, including the following:
* Chafer grubs * Leatherjackets * Ants * Worms (source of food for moles)
